Bhaskar Rao U was born in Udupi Dist. Karnataka, being a self-taught figurative painter, with over five decades of experience, he has had numerous exhibitions since 1969, He has 12 solo shows and over 60 group shows throughout the country. He has participated in many international art exhibitions and in Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Johannesburg, Dubai and Paris.  He has been awarded from Karnataka State Lalitkala Academy four times in 1969, 1979, 1980 and 1981, also Karnataka State Honor in 1996, Sir. G.S.Shenoy memorial award and Karnataka State Rajyotsava Award in the year 2004 and Prestigious Varna Shilpi Venkatappa award in the year 2012.

 

He served as a jury member on National, Regional and State Exhibitions.  He was the Member of General Council and Finance Committee, Lalit Kala Academi, Government of India, New Delhi. Also, member Advisory Committee, Lalitkala Academy Regional Centre, Chennai.  His paintings are included in many Government Organizations, Corporate and Private collections in India and abroad.

 

Apart from painting he has installed mural in different media for corporate, Government organizations and residences.  He also has keen interest in sculptures, his works are adored at many residences, corporate and private collection.
